On Drake’s new album “Certified Lover Boy”, there’s a song titled “Love All” featuring Jay-Z. Jay-Z says a line “You know the price of everything but the value of nothing”. WHOA! This had me thinking about what a person invests in….
Price is defined as “the amount of money expected, required, or given in payment of something“. Another definition of price is “an unwelcome experience, event, or action involved as a condition of achieving a desired end.“
Value is defined as “the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something”. “The material or monetary worth of something”. “The worth of something compared to the price paid or asked for it”. “A person’s principles or standards of behavior, one’s judgement of what is important in life”.
While both words have both tangible and intangible meanings/results, it is what a person chooses to invest in (price vs. value) that will impact their decisions and actions.
The last definition of value did it for me! Value is what I choose to invest in. I put my value in my time, energy, and resources I give to a relationship or anything that I am a part of.
So I ask, what do you invest in, price or value? Do you think the price of being/staying in a relationship is worth it? Do you think using/wasting your value in a relationship is worth it? As I always say, “Read, Relate, Respond!” I would love to hear your opinion and have a healthy dialogue to consider another viewpoint!
Officially Yours,
Miquel
