As more people are getting married, a question I hear often is “Would you get marry for love or money?”
I remember when my husband and I were dating and he asked me this same question. I stopped and thought about my answer. I told him for love, and of course he asked me why. I responded, “my partner can have all the money in the world, but if I do not like/love him, it’s not going to work.” In my many years of living and loving, I know myself well enough to know my attraction and willingness to be in the same room with my partner after a disagreement outweighs the amount of money he has/have.
He could not believe my answer, laughed actually. His thought process was “money makes the world go around,” which it does. However, love is what sustains is, keeps us going, and binds us together. Love produces children, makes a home, and ultimately conquers all.
So I ask, what’s your answer? Would you marry for love or money? If you are married, did your answer change as you got to know your partner after being with them on a daily basis? Would you change your answer based on what you now know? Let’s talk! I would love to hear your perspective …
Officially Yours,
Miquel
